Hey there

Just checking in and writing down some thoughts....
I am thinking of doing a small series of charcoal, (some pastel) on large rough paper...probably figurative peices...Anybody have thoughts on that?
Ironically, this idea comes just after purchasing several large canvases-never a predictable moment in my universe. I will probably just do both, as I usually do.
So, I am off to get my studio ready.
Happy painting , reading , writing, or anything else you do!

"before the rain"

Update-April,15th,o7 Yes- this is the same painting-I added some pastels, and blended them quite a bit. I also softened the colors. You can see the lighter re-working of the painting quite clearly. It is lighter, but my computer and browser are not completely giving the truest version of the colors-the essence isn't lost, it is just that I believe paintings usually look better in the "real" presence of the viewer. So, it is not this light, I left the earthy colors warm and fairly dark. Another view is at: http://www.yessy.com/richards
This is another acrylic on canvas-24"x.75"x30" in size. Back stapled and sides painted, it is a premium gallery wrapped canvas. I picked earthy rustic tones and applied them with a wide flat brush, sometimes blending the colors, sometimes just focusing on the stroke of the brush and the way the paint, thick on the brush, spread across the canvas. I might work a little more this one...but for now, it will remain as is: "before the rain."
